For Curly, Coily & Kinky Hair
Achieving a flawless twist-out doesn’t require complicated steps—just the right technique, moisture, and patience.
Let’s create a defined, soft, and long-lasting style.
Use our MARSHMELLOW Leave-In Conditioning Cream for maximum hydration and definition!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
MARSHMELLOW Leave-In Conditioning Cream or similar cream.
Styling mousse or setting foam (optional)
Detangling brush or wide-tooth comb (optional)
Spray bottle with water
Sectioning clips
Hooded Dryer (Optional for quicker drying)
⸻
STEP 1: PREP THE HAIR
Start on clean or lightly damp hair.
Divide hair into 4–8 sections, depending on density.
Apply leave-in cream evenly, smoothing from root to ends.
Gently detangle and re-clip each section.
Pro Tip:Hair should feel soft, hydrated, and slightly slippery—this is key for definition.

⸻
STEP 2: CREATE YOUR TWISTS
Work from the back forward.
Take a small section (smaller = more definition).
Apply a small amount of styling product (optional)
Add mousse for extra hold (optional)
Split into two strands and twist evenly to the ends
Coil the ends around your finger for a clean finish
Repeat until complete.

⸻

STEP 3: DRYING
Your results depend heavily on this step.
Choose one:
Hooded dryer (best definition)
Bonnet dryer
Diffuser
Air dry (slowest, softest finish)
Important: Hair must be 100% dry before unraveling.

⸻
STEP 4: UNRAVEL & STYLE
Apply a light oil to your hands
Gently unravel each twist
Separate for volume as desired
• Reminders:
Decide on your part (middle, side, or no part) before beginning your twists for optimal styling results.
Hair will shrink up to several inches while drying. This is normal.

⸻
STEP 5: MAINTAIN YOUR STYLE
At night:
Wrap downward for definition
Or “pineapple” for volume
To refresh:
Lightly mist with water
Re-twist small sections as needed
QUICK REMINDERS
Shrinkage is normal
Smaller twists = more definition
Fully dry hair = best results
